Department

The Wholesale Business Analyst role at PDI works with Petroleum Marketer/Jobber clients to understand their needs and translate them into business and technical requirements that feed information technology project specifications and system designs.  Business Analysts work collaboratively with customers, product managers and development teams to analyze business processes, determine software/hardware solutions to business process gaps, and write system specifications that address those gaps.  Successful Business Analysts work closely with other business units to ensure alignment with the company’s objectives, coordinate overall solution delivery between products, and meet project deadlines.  Business Analysts must possess both leadership and technical skills to effectively and efficiently translate business needs into technical requirements and lead the delivery of software solutions.

Reports to VP, Product Management, Wholesale

Responsibilities include

• Works with customers, PDI staff and other subject matter experts to understand business requirements and translate them into new software features
• Analyzes business processes and writes system process specifications for Wholesale solutions
• Contributes and develops documentation for new software features including functional and non-functional requirements, user interface mockups, process and data flow diagrams, dashboards, reports, and user stories
• Works with product development as a member of an agile development team to contribute to the delivery of a high quality solution to our customers
• Contributes to software testing and supports internal or external training, providing demonstrations on software capability and design
• Adheres to ‘best-practice' standards as well as departmental policies and procedures
• Reviews and critiques deliverables from others, and serves as Point of Contact for wholesale related software escalation of concerns or questions from other areas of the business
• Contributes to the creation and maintenance of customer facing product roadmaps
• Performs work with a high degree of autonomy; may include some evenings and weekends when necessary; some travel will be required for customer visits or industry events

Required Skills & Experience

• Minimum of 2 years Software Business Analyst or Product Management related experience
• Requires strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to translate technical jargon into layman’s terms
• Collaborative in nature with a strong desire to dig in and learn independently
• Ability to facilitate/lead requirements gathering and design discussion meeting with customers and internal teams as needed.
• Ability to multi-task and prioritize issues in a fast-paced work environment
• Familiarity with agile development methodology is a plus

Educational Qualifications/ Pre-Requisites

• Business or software development related bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
• Knowledge of Petroleum Wholesale, Petroleum Logistics or Petroleum Retail industries is a plus
• Knowledge of business accounting is a plus
