GL & Payroll Accountant

Overview

PDI is a fast-paced, high-growth environment. The Accountant position is responsible for reconciling all General Ledger accounts, bank reconciliations, balance sheet and general ledger journal entries, managing payroll for all employees, and identifying and resolving issues with accounts. This role works cross-functionally with other departments and must be able to suggest and implement new procedures to perform more effectively and efficiently. This role requires attention to detail, accuracy, and the ability to meet deadlines and work collaboratively in a high-growth environment, and will report to the Corporate Controller

Functions

  • Responsible for maintaining the general ledger and reconciling accounts, including bank accounts to the general/sub ledger system, monthly, quarterly, and for year-end, preparing necessary journal entries for month close
  • Customarily and regularly works with cross-functional teams to ensure the correct and timely posting of day-to-day transactions
  • Responsible for resolving accounting discrepancies and irregularities
  • Tracks all financial reporting deadlines, ensuring timely completion, analyzing financial data and preparing reports as needed
  • Maintains records of assets, liabilities, profit and loss, tax liability, and other financial activities
  • Issue identification and resolution
  • Generates and interprets financial records and statements
  • Manage ADP and ongoing process for payroll
  • Maintains files and documentation thoroughly and accurately
  • Assists in preparing necessary materials for regular audits; works with auditors
  • Performs ad-hoc research, analysis and other projects as directed

Required Skills & Experience

  • Advanced proficiency in MS Office applications, including Excel and Word, with the ability to read and design complex spreadsheets
  • Analytical skills and ability to manage large volumes of data and analysis simultaneously
  • 2+ years experience in a corporate office environment
  • Confidentiality and ability to handle sensitive information appropriately
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Demonstrable ability to learn and navigate proprietary software, with software company experience preferred but not required
  • Proven problem solver with strict attention to detail and accuracy
  • Excellent organizational and follow up skills with a proven ability to work effectively with people at all levels

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business or Finance or 4-5 years of accounting and payroll experience required
  • CPA a plus
