Hardware Support Specialist

The hardware support function works collaboratively with PDI Direct and Technical Services teams to assemble and maintain electronics and hardware components. This role also troubleshoots and diagnoses issues in response to repair tickets, assembling and swapping out parts in our lines of custom built hardware to ensure customer business continuity.

Job Functions

  • Performs hardware maintenance, assembly and provisioning
  • Responds to Technical Services tickets, troubleshooting and diagnosing issues and replacing internal components as needed with assistance from technical professionals
  • Performs inventory and procurement functions to support hardware assembly, placing POs, and working with vendors to ensure parts are received and distributed effectively
  • Information systems technical support for routine customer issues
  • Raises information, bug and feature requests to the development team or senior support specialists
  • Identifies problems with hardware technology and system operations and provides potential workarounds
  • Follows established procedures and regulations, consulting with other departments as needed, e.g., working with Sales to review quotes
  • Performs cable and harness assembly, soldering, wiring, and hardware installation
  • Performs basic QA and unit testing on all newly assembled hardware, running Linux/ Raspian commands

Minimum Qualifications

  • Hands-on experience with hardware troubleshooting experience in a fast-paced environment
  • Coachable, with demonstrable willingness and ability to learn and adapt
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to translate technical jargon into layman’s terms
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite: Word, Excel, etc.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems and Salesforce
  • Familiarity with Linux and Raspian operating systems preferred
  • Must be able to work independently as well as on a team

Educational Qualifications/ Pre-Requisites

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience is preferred
  • Knowledge of Convenience Retail or Wholesale Petroleum industries a plus
